Black kitchen with a natural and unique look
“The house, located in a moshav in the Sharon area, is surrounded by lush greenery and nature, which practically called out to be brought inside and integrated under one roof,” says designer Lehi Lazarov, who led the project.
“The concept was that from the moment you step into the house, you should be able to see the entire plot’s edge without interrupting or blocking the open spaces, but rather framing them naturally.”
The layout of the house was based on its original historical structure, divided into three gables, each serving a different purpose: one for the kitchen, one for the living room, and one for the bedrooms. A key guiding principle was the exclusive use of natural materials — elements either directly from nature or untreated materials that develop their own character over time.
The kitchen, as the most important part of the home, was placed in a central, commanding position, with visibility over the entire space — the starting point of the home’s flow. The island is exceptionally large, with a natural, stone-like materiality that gives it a striking, sculptural presence.
Designed as a bold counterpoint to the rest of the house, the kitchen features black fronts that immediately draw the eye, reflecting the homeowners’ values and priorities.
Behind these dramatic black fronts are hidden systems, including HVAC units, refrigerators, freezers, extensive storage, and even a secret doorway leading to a back kitchen.
The kitchen also functions as the home’s circulation hub, connecting to the patio, the living and dining areas, and, of course, the bedroom wing.

Hili Lazarov | other\:wise studio
Hili Lazarov Studio was founded in 2012, born from a vision of targeted spatial design.
The studio operates based on several core principles:
- Every project is a case study, with its own unique variables.
- Every client is a world unto themselves.
- Every person has an innate need to feel special and unique.
- An element creates space, and space creates an element.
The design philosophy stems from personal passion, while equally drawing inspiration from the client’s dreams, the history of the space or its surroundings, and its future use.
Each project is like the butterfly effect — a single movement can take it to a completely different place, both physically and emotionally.
Imperfection is the name of the game.
The studio specializes in designing residential apartments, private homes, stores, entertainment venues, restaurants, and event halls.
